How Long is the Hike to Slide Rock Sedona?

Slide Rock is only a short hike from the parking lot. The trail is .3 mile and considered moderate.  The trail is the main access to the Slide Rock Swim Area.

Slide Rock is an Arizona State Park, located just 15 minutes north of Sedona, Arizona. This famous landmark features a natural rock water slide that is a favorite with everyone.

Where is Slide Rock?

Slide Rock State Park sits right off State Route 89A between Sedona and Flagstaff in Oak Creek Canyon.  From Uptown Sedona, the drive is a quick and scenic seven miles north.  If you are coming from Flagstaff, expect a 40-minute trip.

Can you hike at Slide Rock?

Yes, there are three hikes.  The Slide Rock Route takes you along the Oak Creek to the slide area.  How long is the hike to Slide Rock?  Only .3 miles. The Pendley Homestead Trail takes visitors around the area to see the homes, apple orchard and farm machinery.  The Clifftop Nature Trail is famous for the canyon views.

Tips for Visiting Slide Rock

Parking is limited.  Get there early especially on weekends during the summer.
No drop offs.  Everyone visiting the park must arrive by vehicle.
The water slide is slippery. It is slippery because algae grow in the water.  Bring water shoes.
