Grand Canyon
A trip to the Grand Canyon is an adventure of a lifetime. Afterall, it is one of seven wonders of the world. On our last visit there, a boy said to his father, “Yep, it is just a giant hole in the ground”. The statement was funny at the time, but then I thought about it. To me, the canyon is more than just a big hole in the ground. It is a breath-taking reminder of nature’s power over time.
Our Grand Canyon Travel Guide is packed with tips, information about the must-see sights and how to navigate the places to stay and where to eat.
Why Visit the Grand Canyon?
A trip to the Grand Canyon National Park should be on everyone’s bucket list. It is a destination that lives up to the hype. The sweeping views, cliffs and the beautiful colors of the rocks is something you can’t miss.
When is the Best Time to Visit the Grand Canyon?
Each season of the year offers a different experience. If this is your first time visiting, then aim for springtime (late April to early June) or fall (September to October). This is the best time for good weather and less crowds.
Spring – Cooler weather with blooming wildflowers with less crowds make it an ideal time to visit.
Summer – This is the peak season, perfect for family vacations. Warmer temperatures are expected.
Fall – Crisp air in the mornings and smaller crowds.
Winter – Snow is likely this time of year. Check the weather and road conditions.
Which Grand Canyon Rim is Better?
South Rim
The South Rim is open year-round. It is the most popular location known for its iconic views. Great for first time visitors, it is perfect for families and for photo opportunities. There are many pull-outs and hiking trails along the south rim. Take your time and see each viewpoint, drive along the rim or ride a bicycle.
North Rim
The North Rim is seasonal. It opens in May and closes in October, depending on snow conditions. The North Rim is located approximately 4 hours from the south rim by car. Fewer people travel to the North Rim due to its location. Since it is at a higher elevation, the temperatures are cooler.

The West Rim is closest to Las Vegas. It is home to the Grand Canyon Skywalk and only accessible from tribal land.
